The Decatur County Assessor's office will be mailing Form 11's the week of Sept. 6.

Form 11's are "Notice of Assessment of Land and Structures". Taxpayers will find the following information on their forms; current property owner, legal description, parcel number and property address. The form will also show the assessed value for last year (2010) and the new assessed value as of March 1, 2011. The March 1, 2011 values are what will be used to create the tax bill you will receive in 2012.

All Agricultural land will be going up across the state of Indiana. Value increased from $1,290 per acre to $1,500 per acre. Ag land values are determined by a formula created by Indiana Farm Bureau and Purdue University. This value is set by the State and cannot be appealed.

Because tax rates for 2011 payable 2012 are not yet available, no one at the courthouse is currently able to use the new assessed values to figure tax bills.
