DECATUR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
JANUARY 7, 2008
The Decatur County Commissioners opened their January 7th meeting with
following present: John Richards - President, Charles Buell, Jerome Buening
and Bridgett Weber-Auditor.
The December 17th meeting minutes were approved as corrected.
Mark Mohr – Highway Department discussed need for equipment. Mr. Mohr would
like to get bid specs for supervisor trucks and Commissioners agreed. Mr.
Mohr discussed REX Pipeline issues with road damage due to unloading the
pipe. David Neuman has contacted REX’s Attorney to discuss zoning issues and
accommodations for repairs. Mr. Mohr discussed the Bridge # 131 closure; a
letter was received from Ron May of Aecon and Mr. Mohr will wait for
analysis from Mr. May to make any repairs possible to open the bridge back
up.
Shannon McLeod discussed grant possibilities and the need for a letter of
support to apply for grants. Mr. Buening moved to sign letter of support to
apply for grants to secure a non-profit facility, Mr. Buell seconded and Mr.
Richards concurred.
David Neuman presented an APC Rezone Petition for Richard Peck for
Commissioner signatures.
Drew Barth –Barth Associates discussed the possibility of getting involved
in County’s bridge projects and explained how the LPA Voucher process has
changed and that there is no limit to how many bridges you have in this
program. John Graff, Senior Engineer at Barth also discussed his knowledge
of the LPA process.
Ms. Polanski discussed IDEM deadline of December 31st for a preliminary
engineering report for a regional sewer district and now a March 31st
deadline for what corrective action plan the county will take. Mr. Richards
provided his thoughts of the meeting at Sardinia. Ms. Polanski discussed the
alternatives to putting in a 1million dollar waste system or to try to
correct only homes without proper disposal. Mr. Buening would like to see
more evidence that there is a need for a sewer system in Sardinia. Ms.
Polanski will contact Alan Crosby, Decatur County Health Department’s
Environmental Specialist to see if additional testing can be done.
William O Smith discussed the Title IV-D Program and the reimbursements of
these monies. Mr. Buell moved to sign letter of transfer funds, Mr. Buening
seconded and Mr. Richards concurred.
With nothing else to come before the Commissioners, Mr. Buell moved to
recess, Mr. Buening seconded and Mr. Richards concurred.
