DECATUR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
JANUARY 22, 2008
The Decatur County Commissioners opened their January 7th meeting with
following present: John Richards - President, Jerome Buening and Bridgett
Weber-Auditor.
The January 7th meeting minutes were approved as corrected.
Mark Mohr – Highway Department presented report from Butler, Fairman &
Seufert for Commissioners information on current projects. Mr. Mohr provided
a LPA Voucher for Commissioners signature.
Mr. Mohr is hoping to receive a letter from Ron May of Aecon for Bridge #131
so that RFP’s can be sent out for the project.
Mr. Mohr provided 3 copies of the Railroad Crossing Agreement for
Commissioners signatures. Mr. Buening moved to sign railroad agreements and
Mr. Richards concurred.
Janet Chadwell would like to use hallway between two buildings for absentee
voting and Commissioners agreed. Mrs. Chadwell would like to add some
additional lighting in the basement. Mrs. Chadwell would also like to see
Kathy Hayes trained to microfilm clerks’ records; currently she needs
training.
Sheriff Templeton is requesting to allow Greensburg School Corporation to
pay reimburse expenses to lease a car School Resource Officer Bruce Copple.
Dr. Goldberg explained the plan they would like to take to get this done.
Bruce Copple explained the program that the school has put into place to
keep this position through the Sheriff’s Department as a reserve deputy. Mr.
Buening moved to lease the car from the School Corporation and Mr. Richards
concurred.
Tom Denison is requesting to close some alleys in Sardinia. Mr. Mohr will
visit the areas and get back with Mr. Denison and Commissioners.
Jason Wischmeyer an attorney for Rockies Express Pipeline discussed
specifications for road repairs and zoning requests that will take place on
March 5, 2008. Mr. Wischmeyer expressed the need for the Decatur County
Highway Department release the condition of the road and work performed;
working condition until release from the Commissioners for work to be done.
Bridge inspections will be performed by Rockies prior to construction but
will not agree to post inspection until contract for construction is signed.
Storm water run off contract will be requested from Soil & Water District
for signatures. Mr. Buening moved to sign agreement with Rockies Express and
Mr. Richards concurred.
Mr. Buening moved to sign Ordinance 2008-1 To Provide for the Issuance of
Permits for Transporting Heavy Vehicles and Loads on Decatur County Highways
and Mr. Richards concurred.
Mr. Buening moved to purchase the 20 acres at the Rebekah Park and Mr.
Richards concurred.
With nothing else to come before the Commissioners, Mr. Buening moved to
recess Mr. Richards concurred.
