DECATUR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MARCH 19, 2007
The Decatur County Commissioners opened their March 19th meeting with
following present: Jerome Buening, John Richards and Bridgett Weber-Auditor.
The March 5th meeting minutes were approved as read.
Claims are approved.
Mr. Buening moved to recess for the Solid Waste bid opening and Mr. Richards
concurred.
Dave Stults discussed specifications for the upcoming Covered Bridge
Festival. The festival committee would like to set up tables on the bridge
and Aecon Engineering is doing a study to see if weight limits would be
permissible. Commissioners agreed that the bridge can be used for the
festival provided that Aecon provides documentation for the weight limits.
Kevin Crites- Fair Board President requested permission to seek grants to
build a new headquarters building at the fairgrounds. Commissioners agreed
that Mr. Crites can seek out the grants from either SIRPC or Rural
Development.
Kathy Eaton-INDOT discussed managing Federally Funded Public Agency
Projects. Bridge projects would be Decatur County’s use of these funds. Mrs.
Eaton recommended discussing each project that Decatur County currently has
in the system. Five things that need to be considered: Current Cost of the
project; Federal Funds awarded; Local Match 20% available; Scope of Project;
and Time Schedule.
Bryan Robbins – Hott City provided a quarterly report as requested by the
Commissioners.
Mr. Richards presented an agreement between INDOT and Decatur County for
$42,460.00 for railroad crossing signs. Mr. Buening moved to sign agreement
for railroad crossings and Mr. Richards concurred. Mr. Buening thanked the
Highway Department for finding these monies.
Pam Blasdel provided an update on the comprehensive plan. Red Cross has
submitted some information and Ms. Blasdel will try to have plan updated for
the next Commissioners meeting.
Mr. Buening moved to appoint David Haas to the Lake Santee Regional Waste
and Water District and Mr. Richards concurred.
New Directions requested the use of the gazebo on June 24, 2007 and
Commissioners agreed.
Mr. Buening moved to pay the $250 co-payment to Clarian Health Partners as
the county employee was attending a meeting out of town and could not admit
themselves to Decatur County Memorial Hospital and Mr. Richards concurred.
With nothing else to come before the Commissioners, Mr. Buening moved to
recess, Mr. Richards concurred.
