DECATUR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MAY 21, 2007


The Decatur County Commissioners opened their May 7th meeting with following present: Charles Buell- President, Jerome Buening, John Richards and Bridgett Weber-Auditor.

The May 7th meeting minutes were approved as read.

Mark Mohr – Highway Department provided an update to the Commissioners from Butler Fairman & Seufert. Mr. Mohr also provided a signature page for final approval on Bridge #140 on 700S and the Bridge at the Park. Mr. Richards moved to sign approval of both bridges, Mr. Buening seconded and Mr. Buell concurred.

Claims are approved

Pepper Cooper – Maverick Insurance provided an updated recommendation for the Property and Casualty renewal. Houston Casualty Insurance will be the new insurer. The savings for 2007-2008 will be approximately $21,000.00. Mr. Richards moved to change carrier to Houston Casualty and to approve the policy for $141,550.05, Mr. Buening seconded and Mr. Buell concurred.

John Richards reported to the board in reference to the Regional Sewer District. After all applications were reviewed Bernardin, Lochmueller & Associates ranked the highest on scoring sheets. Mr. Richards moved to appoint Bernardin, Lochmueller & Associates as engineers for the Regional Sewer District, Mr. Buening seconded and Mr. Buell concurred.

Vickie Adams – Board Member of the Town of Milford would like to dissolve the town. Mr. Mohr would like to establish a date so that he knows when to take over the roads. Ms. Polanski recommended dissolving the corporation. A resolution will need to be signed by the Commissioners at their next meeting and then the corporation can dissolve 60 days after the resolution signed.

Jerry Herman - Land Owner discussed a letter received from Larry Howard from the Health Department concerning Ordinance 2004-5. Mr. Herman would like to keep his property the way it is. He is willing to build a building so he may keep the cars he believes are antiques. The Commissioners will have Mr. Howard come back out at the end of June to look over the property again.

Mr. Buening moved to make direct deposit mandatory June 1 for all new employees, Mr. Richards seconded and Mr. Buell concurred.

Commissioners agreed to keep with policy and only allow displays for one week on the courthouse grounds.

With nothing else to come before the Commissioners, Mr. Buening moved to recess, Mr. Richards seconded and Mr. Buell concurred.
