DECATUR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MEETING MINUTES
JULY 3, 2006
The Commissioners opened their July 3rd meeting with the following present: Jerome Buening- President, Charles Buell, John Richards and Bridgett Weber-Auditor.
The June 19th meeting minutes were approved as read.
Mark Mohr presented a LPA Voucher for Bridge #140 to be sent to Butler Fairman & Seufert after signature. The rough draft of a plaque that will be placed on Bridge #140 was approved by the Commissioners. Mr. Mohr has talked to Milestone about the paint on the
Westport Covered Bridge. Milestone will contact the paint supplier and let Mr. Mohr know. Mr. Mohr received a quote for repairs at the Highway Garage from Danny Lawrence for $500.00. Commissioners agreed to pay Mr. Lawrence to do the repairs.
Tim Ortman discussed a possible ordinance for specifications for the gas line being proposed by Rockies Express Pipeline. The GIS/IT Committees will meet on July 18th at 1:30
Claims were approved.
Mr. Buell moved to sign a lease agreement with Solid Waste District for office space at the Sheriff’s Department, Mr. Richards seconded and Mr. Buening concurred.
Mr. Buell moved to appoint Don Schilling, Mark Schabel, Brad Buening, Dan Wilson and Mike Walker to the Redevelopment Commission, Mr. Richards seconded and Mr. Buening concurred. The members will serve until December 31, 2007.
The US Department of Interior/National Park Service awarded the Decatur County Courthouse as a site included in the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. Mr. Buening read the acceptance letter and presented the certificate for display.
Joe Scimia of Baker & Daniels presented a Petition to Vacate a Public Way for the construction of the Honda Plant. Mr. Scimia explained the need for the closures and relocation of County Roads 300 and 350 in Adams Township. Mr. Buell moved to vacate County Road 350W and relocate 300N in Adams Township, Mr. Richards seconded and Mr. Buening concurred.
David Neuman and Mr. Scimia requested signatures on Ordinance 2006-22 Rezoning 1,670 acres from A-2, I-2 & B3 to I-1.
Michael Curran provided information to the Commissioners about PSI Group, Inc. a mail presort company. We could send mail pieces at 37.1 cents instead of the 39 cents. Mr. Curran will visit county departments to introduce the services and report back to the Commissioners.
With nothing else to come before the Commissioners, Mr. Buell moved to recess, Mr. Richards seconded and Mr. Buening concurred. Meeting recessed.
