DECATUR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MEETING MINUTES


OCTOBER 2, 2006

The Commissioners opened their October 2nd meeting with the following present: Jerome Buening- President, Charles Buell and Bridgett Weber-Auditor.

The September 18th meeting minutes were approved as corrected.

Mark Mohr, Decatur County Highway Department, reported to the Commissioners that blacktop projects are finished. The Highway Department is currently working on a project on Anderson Street. Honda has expressed concerns of the 55mph speed limit on 421N with this being a construction area the limit should be reduced during the construction phase. Ms. Polanski has been asked to draft an ordinance to this effect. 

Doug Banks, representative of the Decatur County Ambulance Service provided specifications for the purchase of a new ambulance.

Claims were approved.

Mr. Buell moved to sign Ordinance 2006-13, Establishing a Temporary Maximum Speed Limit in the Vicinity of a Worksite, and Mr. Buening concurred.

Francis Geis, Washington Township Assessor and Ginny Whipple discussed the increased workload Mr. Geis’ office will be experiencing in assessing the new Honda Plant. Ms. Whipple will be retiring from her present company on November 1st and would like a 3 year contract paying $95.00 an hour with Decatur County to perform services such as assessing and tax abatements. 

With nothing further to come before the Commissioners, Mr. Buell moved to recess and Mr. Buening concurred.
